What are PB & J Rides?
PB & J rides are scheduled during the day on Wednesdays, weather permitting. They are about 20 miles in length and average around 10 MPH. This is a sightseeing & conversational pace. Ride Codes are either D or E and 3 or 4.
Ride details (meeting time, meeting place, ride route description) will be posted to the STBC Googlegroup by the ride leader on Monday, after checking the weather forecast. Rides may start in the morning, midday or afternoon but all bicycles will be off the road by 4:00 PM. It may or may not include an ice cream or restaurant stop (check ride description). The ride will have a restroom at the start or along the way.
Yes, riders do bring PB & J instead of energy bars... along with water.
PB & J rides make semi-frequent stops at key points to collect riders. Nobody rides alone! Keep an eye on the rider(s) behind you that they don't get lost. Slow down or stop if you don't see them. It is a group ride and we stay together.
Ride Leaders - before you crest that hill or make that turn, if you can't see your "sweep", stop and collect riders.
All riders should follow the "Safety Tips" posted on this website.
Ride Leaders should read and follow "Lead a Ride" posted on the website. This is where they can also find the blank ride sign-in sheet. Ride Leaders can scan or photograph the sign-in sheet and send to: stbc.signin@gmail.com
The PB & J rides are announced via the STBC's googlegroup e-mail listserv. To subscribe to this listserv, click below and enter your e-mail address when prompted:
