Rides
Our weekend ride lineup features a late Friday afternoon ride, 4 Saturday road rides from 17 to 67 miles, and a 27 mile partially off-road "Gravel Grinder' ride led by staff from Binghamton's Chenango Point Cycles. Two Sunday road rides are in the mix too - 20 and 27 miles. Here's our tentative rides. These may be modified for unanticipated changes in road and weather conditions. This is a 'rain or shine event' including air quality index. It will be the rider's discretion whether to cycle in the weather conditions. If the weather is predicted to be inclement, the event may be subject to a time change.
Friday 4 pm Ride
17 miles - Candy's Corner Cones Ice Cream Ride
This scenic ride begins with a steady climb, followed by stretches of peaceful, flat terrain along quiet back roads on the ridge to the west of Owasco Lake. The highlight comes in the final miles—a fun, flowing, gently curving downhill into Locke. We’ll wrap things up with a well-earned stop at Candy’s Corner for some delicious ice cream. A sweet reward for a sweet ride!

Saturday Rides
17 miles - Locke Hill Loop - 10:15 am start
This scenic ride is similar to Friday's ice cream ride. It begins with the same steady challenging climb to the ridge on the west side of Owasco Lake, and is followed by stretches of peaceful, flat terrain along quiet back ridge roads. The highlight comes again in the final miles—a fun, flowing, gently curving downhill into Moravia. We’ll wrap things up with yet another well-earned stop at Candy’s Corner for some delicious ice cream. Yet another sweet reward for a sweet ride!

27 miles - Gravel Grinder led by Chenango Point Cycles staff - partially off-road - 10 am start
What is gravel grinding? It’s a style of cycling that blends road and mountain biking on unpaved, gravel, dirt, and paved roads—sometimes even single track—taking riders off the beaten path and into scenic, rural landscapes.
We’re thrilled to have Chenango Point Cycles teaming up with us this year to offer this ride! They’re passionate and experienced gravel grinders, and it shows.
This year’s route is a local favorite. It starts in Moravia with a challenging climb up a scenic paved farm road, then heads toward Sempronius through a mix of gravel and pavement, and finishes with a fantastic wooded descent on dirt roads and trails alongside Fillmore Glen. Smooth and/or narrow tires intended for road riding are not suitable for this ride.

39 miles Owasco Lake Loop - ride start 9:45 am
The loop around Owasco Lake is an event favorite with its beautiful views and farm roads on the east! Starting and ending at Fillmore Glen State Park, the ride loops around Owasco Lake, passing through Moravia and Auburn. Along the way, you’ll enjoy scenic lakeside views, historic sites like the Harriet Tubman House, and a few great spots to grab food or ice cream. Riders can stop at the Tom Thumb Drive-In around mile 24 and enjoy a post-ride treat at Candy’s Corner Cones in Moravia, offering $3 specials to participants. See you back at the park! This ride is one of eleven routes on Finger Lakes Cycling Club's 'Bike the Finger Lakes 11 Challenge' (see bikethefingerlakes.org).

47 miles Owasco Lake - Western Ridge Ramble - Ride Start 9:30 am
This scenic ride starts at Fillmore Glen at the south end of Owasco Lake with a manageable rolling climb north to Auburn along the east side of the lake. It delivers a satisfying mix of elevation, solitude, and expansive lake views while working your way up through rolling farmland and quiet forest roads to reach the high ridgeline overlooking Owasco Lake.
This ride was developed by our STBC club president and a past-president for your enjoyment, and it is being co-led by them. This ride features 2,200+ feet of climbing over 47 miles - a very manageable challenge, mostly on quiet farm roads that are in great condition. The longest climb is early in the ride along Rockefeller Road on the east side of Owasco Lake. It rolls along comfortably, with a few grades reaching up to 8% and an epic lake view at the top. After dropping down to the north end of Owasco Lake and stopping for a lunchbreak at the pavilion or snack nearby convenience store, a steady consistent climb begins to the ridge west of Owasco Lake. The ridge roads are quiet and in beautiful condition with epic views, and pass by Amish farms, descending after many miles back down into Locke NY, just a few miles from Fillmore Glen. This ride is ideal for intermediate cyclists.
Stops are planned at two convenience stores and a ridge farm store - home to a white donkey with black stripes (they ARE members of the zebra family after all!) - on route. Riders are also encouraged to pack plenty of food and water.

67 miles Skaneateles - Owasco metric+ century - ride start 9:15 AM
This scenic and moderately challenging metric+ century rolls through forested hills, lakeside roads, and quiet countryside between Fillmore Glen State Park and Skaneateles. After an early climb to Frozen Ocean State Forest, riders enjoy many miles of ridge views on pristine roads, then enjoy sweeping descents - especially the thrilling drop to Skaneateles Lake. The route’s major climbs are done by mile 25, with peaceful meandering along the west side of Owasco Lake and one final moderate ascent near mile 55. A sweet reward awaits in Moravia at Candy’s Corner Cones, offering tour riders treats to cap off the adventure. Facilities are sparse until mile 40 in the village of Skaneateles, so pack plenty of food and water.
